A month or so ago, our fiber group met for a play date to work with disperse dyes. Barb has two posts at her weblog that describe the process. We had worked with disperse dyes a couple of years ago and I completed several small pieces and ruined several others by adding much too much paint and stitching.
This time, I used larger sheets of paper. Three of the group look quite promising. The one pictured is approximately 18" by 20".
Painting and transfering the dyes is the easy part. Now we wait. Until some concept for extending this piece "loads." And until I get up enough courage to begin to manipulate what is already quite lovely.
