Oh Baby!

So much of my work these days involves painting, dying, melting, and embellishing fiber and textiles. Every once in a while, it's a treat to go back and just sew... fabric to fabric. So when a client asked if I would be interesting in making two baby quilts "in my style", I jumped at the chance.

The first was completed in July for a nursery that was being decorated in yellows and greens. The second quilt was finished this week for a family's third child (no special nursery for this baby!) Both were machine pieced with some hand applique and both were hand quilted. The challenge was to come up with a quilting design that added interest to the quilt but that did not take more than a couple of weeks to complete. Best of all, I used up a bit of that enormous stash in the attic.
